Mother’s Union

Welcome to Mothers’ Union

Mothers’ Union is an international Christian charity that seeks to support families worldwide.
In 84 countries, our members share one heartfelt vision – to bring about a world where God’s love is shown through loving, respectful and flourishing relationships. This is not a vague hope, but a goal we actively pursue through prayer, programmes, policy work and community relationships. By supporting marriage and family life, especially through times of adversity, we tackle the most urgent needs challenging relationships and communities.
Our members are not all mothers, or even all women. Single, married, parents, grandparents, or young adults just beginning to express their social conscience. For all 4 million members what Mothers’ Union provides is a network through which they can serve Christ in their own community – through prayer, financial support and actively working at the grassroots level in programmes that meet local needs. Mothers’ Union lobbies local and national governments on issues affecting family life and campaigns to challenge legislation that neglects the vulnerable and marginalised. It is also represented at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women.
Check out the website to discover the amazing things that Mothers’ Union is involved in.

Loving Lord, We thank you for your love so freely given to us all. We pray for families around the world. Bless the work of the Mothers’ Union as we seek to share your love through the encouragement, strengthening and support of marriage and family life. Midday Prayers 2018: In Mary Sumner’s Footsteps: Wealth and Poverty

Micah 6: 8

“The Lord has told us what is good. What he requires of us is this: to do what is just, to show constant love and to live in humble fellowship with our God.”

Let’s remember especially our own country, our people affected by poverty and homelessness. Pray for our government as we approach Budget Day, that decisions made will be equitable.

We come to you, Lord,

for the hungry of this world,

that they might find food to eat.

We come to you, Lord,

for the thirsty of this world,

that they might find water to drink.

We come to you, Lord,

for the homeless of the world

that they might find somewhere to live.

We come to you, Living Water,

Bread of Life, for whom this earth

was but a temporary home,

that these, your precious people

might find within your mercy

and gracious provision

an answer to their needs.

Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer

God of compassion,
your eyes are turned to the poor and needy.
Turn our gaze to see the need around us.

Give us a vision of an equal world where poverty has no place.

God of justice,
your face is set against poverty.
Shake us out of our comfort.

Challenge us to counter injustice whatever the cost to ourselves.

God of hope,
your kingdom will come in its fullness.

Envision us to act and pray.

Inspire us to work for a future hope of fullness of life for all.

Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer

Loving God,

we pray for those

who have been deprived of love,

who feel unloved,

or for whom love has been painful.

Touch their hearts with the love of Christ.

We pray for those

who are scarred by bitter and painful experience,

who have been subjected to abuse;

those afraid of showing their true feelings,

those oppressed by mental illness.

Touch their hearts with the love of Christ.

Loving God,

grant to us all the knowledge

that your love will never fail,

and never let us go.

In Jesus’ name.

Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer

We think, in a moment of silence, especially of those who have asked for or need our prayers….

Lord, we pray for Mothers’ Union worldwide.

Today we pray for the people and work of:

Nzara in South Sudan; North Kigezi in Uganda; Kivu in Rwanda; Damataru in Nigeria; Auckland in New Zealand and Vanuatu and New Caledonia in Vanuatu

We pray for all members.
May God be with them
in every part of their lives,
encouraging them and leading them,
sheltering and strengthening them
So they may work to your praise and glory.

Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer
