Parish Notices Sunday 15th November 2015
The Rector writes ’Next Saturday we will have our annual Parish ’Quiet Day’ from 11am until 3pm in the Parish Hall. As with previous years it will be a chance to slow down for a few hours and perhaps learn a new aspect of prayer. This year Lynn McAdam O’Connell will be leading us through some different types of prayer disciplines and I am particularly looking forward to being introduced to ’Centring Prayer’ which Wikipedia tells me is a method of silent prayer that ‘prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer in which we experience God’s presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself’ . In this busy, bustling time of year, this will come in very useful I’m sure. Everyone is welcome to come along, just bring some lunch with you, tea & coffee will be available there.

Streaming of Services
Streaming services have been offline for the last few weeks due to a camera power supply failure, a lost cable(!) and software problems with the laptop. All of these problems have now been resolved and normal service – so to speak – resumes in St Mary’s this Sunday November 15th and each Sunday thereafter. Additional cabling has also been purchased to improve the sound levels of the service broadcast; this will be in place before Christmas.
Occasional service streaming continues from St John’s with the most recent broadcast being the Remembrance Choral Evensong. Future streaming events from St John’s will be noted in the parish diary in advance if possible. It is intended that services will be streamed from both churches at some point during Advent and Christmas.
Discussions have started about providing a similar internet streaming facility from the Church of Our Lady & St John for our sister parish in Carrigaline.
Finally, as always, critical feedback is most welcome concerning the video and sound quality of any streamed service. Please email simonwoodworth@gmail.com or else contact the parish office with any comments, or if assistance is needed in obtaining the streaming service in your own home.
