Parish Notices Sunday 15th September 2013

The Rector writes ‘We are delighted to be present today as Aaron, Alexander, Ali, Christina, Daniel, Michael and Robbie are confirmed.  It is a great day for our parish and we wish them all God’s blessings as they continue in their Christian life. On another subject entirely, I would like to let you know that we are in the process of putting together what will be an annual newsletter. Communication is very important in life generally and in our parish life specifically.  I know I really appreciate the opportunity to speak to you all via this weekly Linksheet.  I also know from feedback from various people that our new Parish Welcome leaflets have been a great success.  We now hope to print a substantial Parish newsletter each Harvest time which will , among other items, allow each of our groups to speak at greater depth about who they are and what they do.  If any of you would like to advertise your business in it , we would be very happy to have the sponsorship to help offset printing costs.  Please let Eddie Pierce know if you would like to place an advertisement. We would need to have the text and images before the end of September.

MOTHERS’ UNION NEWS – We will have our opening service at 8pm on Wednesday, 18th September at St. Mary’s Church in Carrigaline, followed by a short AGM and a time of fellowship and tea. There will be a collection for the Mothers’ Union Relief Fund and there will be an opportunity to buy Christmas cards, other cards and calendars etc., the proceeds of which go towards Mothers’ Union work round the world.   We would love to welcome new members and would like you to know that everyone of any age is welcome to join us, not just mothers!!  Please also make a note of our Annual Women’s Conference which takes place this year from 22nd-24th November in Garryvoe Hotel.  It is always a relaxing, inspiring, fun weekend and really worth attending. Further information and booking forms are available from Hilary. If you need any further information please contact either the parish office or talk to Hilary Dring at 021-4378439/086-3680513

Movies for the Heart, Mind & SOUL-You might like to book  3 dates  in your diary over the next few months as the Revd Tony Murphy has chosen 3 movies/documentaries to be shown on 3 Thursdays : 26 September,  24 October and 21st November.

Each movie/documentary has been chosen for a specific theme relating to how  Christian Groups responded  to various issues which occurred.

The first night which is on Thursday 26th September  is a Documentary on the role of Christian and Muslim Women in Liberia West Africa  who were determined to bring the long running civil war to an end in that country in 2003.

Before we view the movie, the Revd Tony will give a  brief introduction to the history of that country and the background to the civil conflict and we will of course finish up with some light refreshments.

We will meet in the Parish hall at 7.30pm on the night.
