Parish Notices Sunday 17th February 2019
The Rector writes ‘The year just seems to be hurtling along, even with Lent beginning late this year (Ash Wednesday is 6th March), it still feels like just yesterday that we celebrated the birth of our Lord and now we are beginning to prepare for Lent and Easter!. With that in mind, I would like to recommend to you the Parish Retreat which is on Saturday 9th March in our Parish Hall. Dr Iva Beranek and Carol Casey from the Church of Ireland Ministry of Healing will lead this Retreat entitled ‘Wellspring : Come to the well, the well is deep’ .
I will just be attending rather than leading so I am looking forward to listening and learning alongside all of you. Please let me know if you might also be planning on coming along as Iva and Carol will need to know how many will be attending on the day. The Retreat day will begin at 10am with registration and end with a Service at 3pm. Lunch will be ‘Bring & Share’ and tea/coffee/biscuits will be provided.
The Retreat is free to parishioners (non-parishioners 20 euro )’

Random Notes No. CCXC1
Since it was Valentine’s Day recently, let’s end the week on a romantic note….. The following lines were written by Anne Bradstreet, an American woman, (who clearly had a happy marriage) to her husband in the 1600’s.
If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man was loved by wife, then thee.
If ever wife was happy in a man,
Compare with me ye women if you can.
I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold,
Or all the riches that the East doth hold.
My love is such that rivers cannot quench,
Nor aught but love from thee, give recompense.
Thy love is such I can no way repay,
Thy heavens reward thee manifold I pray.
Then while we live, in love let’s so persevere,
That when we live no more, we may live ever.
