Parish Notices Sunday 19th June 2016
The Rector writes ‘I have reproduced in full the Bishop’s address from last week’s Diocesan Synod and it is included as an insert in this week’s Linksheet.
A number of people at synod last week, including me, felt that his words deserved to be heard by as many people in the diocese as possible and not just by those ‘lucky’ enough to be on synod. Please do take time to read it carefully. We are blessed to have as our bishop someone who genuinely cares and who can articulate social concerns and issues and we need to give him all the support we can. Later on today many of us are meeting at 3pm outside the park gates in Grand Parade to mark the World Refugee Day and to walk in silence together in solidarity. If you come along, don’t forget to bring an old pair of shoes. These will be symbolically laid outside the gates of the park at the end of the walk as a visible witness to those fleeing their lands in search of sanctuary’
