The Rector writes ’Welcome to the very last service of this Liturgical Year A. Next week is Advent Sunday, the beginning of Year B of the Lectionary Cycle (which determines what part of the Bible is read on a given Sunday), it is also a 5th Sunday and so we will be joining together at 11am in St Mary’s for a United Advent Service to celebrate the beginning of Advent. We will also have a Wholeness & Healing Service at 7pm in St John’s that day. A reminder to put your name down today for a date for the Posada if you plan on being involved in the journey of Mary, Joseph & the Donkey around the parish homes before they arrive back in time for Christmas Eve’s 4pm ‘Carols around the Crib’ Service.
I would also like to let you know that there is a special Advent Booklet available from BRF (Bible Reading Fellowship) if anyone would like to join me during this Advent period. It consists of daily reading a specific passage from scripture along with some notes beginning 1st December. I will only print as many copies of this as is needed so please let me know if you would like one before next Wednesday 26th at the latest. ’

BOOK OF REMEMBERING If you would like to write in the name of anyone who has been a major part of your life and who has died, there is now a parish book, where you can write in the name along with their birth date and the date of their death. While it is not usual in Anglican theology to pray for our departed family and friends, it is very much a part of our tradition to truly remember and value the role they played in our lives.
