Parish Notices Sunday 25th March 2018
The Rector writes ‘Today is Palm Sunday and Holy Week begins. There is a Holy Week Schedule on the back page to help you plan ahead for the services which are spread across our two churches. This week is the most important week in our Church Calendar as it is our opportunity to relive our Lord’s Passion, Death and Resurrection in our Liturgies.
Someone once said that a Priest’s main job was to ‘Gather the people, Tell the Stories, Break the Bread’ and Holy Week is the most magnetic of times to do just that. Personally I am looking forward to listening to visiting preacher Bishop David Chillingworth in St Luke’s Douglas in the early part of the week and to attending the Chrism Eucharist at 12 noon in St Factna’s Cathedral Roscarbery. Everyone, especially those in lay or ordained Ministry, may attend this most atmospheric Service as the Oils are blessed for use in the coming year.
I look forward to journeying through Holy Week with you.
EASTER EGG DONATIONS A box will be at the back of St Mary’s Church to receive any donations of Easter Eggs for the children in Cuan Lee Women’s Refuge Centre in Cork City. These will be delivered to them on Easter Sunday immediately after our 11am Service.
