Parish Notices Sunday 4th June 2017
The Rector writes ‘ Today is the feast of Pentecost, 50 days after Easter Day. We remember how the frightened disciples hiding in the Upper Room were emboldened by the Holy Spirit and were able to go out and be witnesses for Christ. May we too receive this gift of the Holy Spirit in our time.’

Spirit Divine
(To the air of “Spirit of God, unseen as the wind”)
Spirit Divine, long, long ago
You came down in tongues of flame.
You gave them power, You gave them strength,
nothing would be the same.
Jesus Himself this promise once made
before He reclaimed His throne:
“Someone will come and lend you His aid,
you will not be alone”.
Spirit Divine, long, long ago
You came down in tongues of flame.
You gave them power, You gave them strength,
nothing would be the same.
On rushing wind from heaven You came
and gave them all foreign speech.
When You had gone, issuing forth,
they boldly began to preach.
Spirit Divine, long, long ago
You came down in tongues of flame.
You gave them power, You gave them strength
nothing would be the same.
