Parish Notices Sunday 29th May 2016
The Rector writes ‘Lots to fit into this space this morning! Please have a look at the back page about the upcoming Silent Walk for Refugees. This is a great opportunity to highlight how upset we are about the terrible plight of refugees so I hope many of you will be able to join me in Cork on that day.
I also want to mention that RTE will be broadcasting LIVE on Radio from St Mary’s Church on Sunday 26th June, very exciting! I have invited children from our School to join us that morning and Roger Ellis and Frances Schilling will be organising the music for the day. I am appealing to you all for a good turnout for this United Service as the more voices we have in Church on the day the better we will sound across the airwaves! Finally I want to mention that our quarterly Service of Wholeness & Healing is at 7pm tonight in St John’s Church, come and experience a lovely time of quiet reflection in our busy world’
Cakes for Cambodia. Tracey Pierce is hosting a fundraising cake sale in the Rectory alongside our Parish Picnic which follows the United Service this morning. During the summer she is going on a Mission Trip to Cambodia with Tear Fund and CDYC (Cork Diocese Youth Council) who run summer camps for kids touched by trauma. It’s good for us all to support one of our Parishioners when they take on a project like this (and no doubt the cakes will quite delicious !).
TONIGHT AT 7pm- Service of Wholeness & Healing in St John’s.

NASC, the Irish Immigrant Support Centre invites us to join them on a Silent Solidarity Walk to mark World Refugee Day 2016. This walk is being organised to raise awareness of those fleeing persecution and seeking security.
When: Sunday 19th June 2016 at 3PM
Where: Walk starts at Bishop Lucey Park
They are asking that each participant bring a pair of old shoes to carry on this walk to symbolise the journey of individuals seeking safety, giving us a small chance to ‘Walk in their Shoes’, however temporarily. These shoes will be placed at the gates of Bishop Lucey Park to raise awareness of the refugee journey with the general public. After the walk, we will have a moment of silence and an invited speaker will share their story of their journey to safety. All are welcome.
