“Monkstown Ladies Guild held a committee meeting at Drumglass on Monday December 2nd 1963. Mrs Johnson was in the chair, also present Mrs Gibson, Mrs Ellis, Mrs Vickers and Mrs Irwin. Apologies were received from Mrs Garde, Mrs Harte, Mrs Dixon and Mrs Bird.
The children’s Christmas tree and party were discussed and as Passage had decided to hold their Christmas tree party as usual, it was proposed by Mrs Gibson and seconded by Mrs Ellis that one party was sufficient for the two parishes and it was quite unnecessary for Monkstown to hold one this year. This was passed.
Mrs Ellis proposed and Mrs Johnson seconded that covers could be bought for the Choir Hymn books, out of the Ladies Guild Fund. This was passed and the secretary was instructed to purchase them and let the treasurer know the cost.
Jumble sale was provisionally fixed for April 3rd 1964.
It was proposed by Mrs Irwin and seconded by Mrs Vickers that a social evening with whist drive should be held for Monkstown and Passage. This was passed and January 17th 1964 was fixed for same. The Ladies Guild Committee members to supply prizes and to have a scratch tea. No entrance fee.
The next Committee meeting to be held on Friday January 3rd to make arrangements for Social evening.
