Parish Notices Sunday 7th July 2013
The Rector writes; ‘I am writing this on first day back after my break and I must say I find it hard to even remember how to type! I seem to switch off so completely on holidays it takes me a while to ramp up again. During these two summer months of July & August, everything seems to slow down, its like life as become somehow muffled in a way., not as much much traffic around, less people in the shops and on the streets and it should be a perfect time to re-generate energy. ….. but as we have the Holiday Club coming up so it will probably be one of the busiest months of the year for me. The idea behind the Bible based Holiday Club is that the teens are the ‘Junior Leaders’ ,the children are the willing ‘Participants’ (with the ‘adult’ helpers in the background of course) and together we all learn a little more about God during the week. Last year, the Revd Isobel and I held a one day Club to test the waters and this year we are doing a week-long club so we will be running the junior leaders workshops every Thursday and the actual club will be held in the school from 22nd to 26th July. If you know of a child who is intending to go, please get them to put in an application form (available from the Parish office or from me) so that we can plan numbers. Here’s to a busy July! ’
New rotas available at the back of the church or in your email inbox!
TODDLERS PLUS ONE GROUP meet tomorrow as normal from 10am-midday . There will be no Monday Club until September.

YOUTH UPDATE
Hi to all of our Youth Club members!
Our pizza making bash down at the Wilson’s place was our last meeting until we meet you all again in September. We’ve had some great meetings this past year – well done to you all for your contributions!!
The best of luck to those starting secondary school – we are sure you’ll love it. Please remember those less well off than yourselves (those sick or suffering or those living in places of poverty and war) and keep them in your prayers. Look after yourselves and have a great Summer ok !!? God Bless from Peter, Conor and Brenda.
Final Youth meeting of the 2012/13 year.
Eric and Evelyn Wilson kindly invited the youth club to their home to avail of their “cool” stone pizza oven located in their Currabinny garden.
The oven had been heating up with a dry wood fire at the back of it for a few hours and was ready to go when we arrived. Eric provided all the dough, tomato sauce and cheese. We brought a variety of toppings with us.
Eric started by teaching us how to shape and roll the bases, using semolina to stop them burning, then how to add the sauce and cheese and toppings and then to take them to the oven on the long handled implement to bake. In less than 120 seconds each , our pizzas cooked through and they were DELICIOUS!!! (Simon was enjoying it so much he cooked a second pizza and his very own style of bread roll!) We had a great night and thanks again to The Wilsons for their generosity. (PC)

Random Notes LXV
Illustrated above, taken on Wednesday, 13th April, 1988, are three views of the handsome railings, of cast and wrought iron, surrounding the grave of Frances Elizabeth Irvine Tighe (c.1796-1871), in the Churchyard of Carrigaline, a short distance from the east window of the Church. Standing some 38 inches high, upon a 7 inch limestone plinth, they enclose an area just over 8 feet six, by 5 feet 7 inches, and, as is evident in the photographs, are most attractive, and remain to this day in an excellent state of repair. Readers of these notes may recall that in issue no. XXIX, brief details were given of the glass in the east window, set up, sometime after 1871, to the memory of Frances Elizabeth Irvine Tighe.
( A mistake by the compiler of this note numbered the last issue of random notes as no. LXVI, instead of LXIV. The cause of this error can of course be attributed to the effects of his advancing years, and it is therefore hoped that parishioners will be both understanding of this, and in Christian spirit forgive the mistake!)
