Pew Sheet – 10th April 2022

Dear Sisters & Brothers in Christ, during Lent we have been preparing by works of love and self-sacrifice for the celebration of our Lord’s death and resurrection.

Today we come together spiritually to begin this solemn celebration in union with the Church throughout the world. Christ enters his own city to complete his work as our Saviour, to suffer,  to die, and to rise again.

Let us go with him in faith and love, so that united with him in his sufferings, we may share his risen life.

Thank you to all who sent in books and cakes and who came along and bought them! We raised 2010 euro for

Together-Razem Centre who are helping Ukrainian Refugees to settle in the Cork area

A group in the parish continue to stop each night at 7pm to offer prayer for peace in Ukraine and the world.

St Mary’s Church will remain open overnight Thursday into Good Friday in Holy Week to facilitate prayer for peace.

During this Ukrainian Refugee crisis, the Red Cross has teams at Cork Airport and also at the port when ferries come in.

On arrival (most arriving with virtually nothing) small ‘welcome packs’ of essentials are given to every arrival in a zip lock bag and the Red Cross are now looking for support.  This is something that our Parish hopes to be able to help with.

See list below of items (new and unused) which will be included in labelled zip lock bags.

If you would like to buy any of these items, there will be a collection bag at the back of both churches or you can always drop items into the Rectory Porch at anytime.  A group of us can pack them into the relevant Ziplock Bags and deliver to the Red Cross at the Airport and the Port.
