The Rector writes ‘ It is time again to begin parish preparation for Confirmation!

The weekly evening classes will begin next Thursday 20th January and all the candidates will attend church each Sunday during this time of preparation. There is already a group of 9 young people signed up so if you would like to be confirmed this year, and you haven’t let me know yet, then please get in touch immediately as once the classes actually begin it won’t be possible to join in at a later date. The preparation is very much about a group getting to know each other and learning together over a three month period. We don’t know yet when the actual Confirmation Service will take place as that is something the Bishop decides but it is usually in Easter tide (April/May). This year, the venue will be St John’s Church, Monkstown. I look forward to really getting to know these young people over the course of the next few months.’

Following on from Roger’s interesting random note of Sunday last, readers might perhaps just be interested to see the beneath reproduction of an 1890’s watercolour by Constance Eleanor Westrop of the c.1834 bridge in Carrigaline as itoriginally appeared, and prior to the replacement of the arch by a flat deck after the partial destruction of the bridge in May, 1921.
