Pew Sheet – 17th November 2024

It hasn’t gone away !

A reminder to us all that if you have any symptoms of COVID-19 and feel unwell, you should stay at home until 48 hours after your symptoms are mostly or fully gone and avoid contact with other people, especially people at higher risk from COVID-19

The next parish Fundraiser is on Sunday 1st December, the Tractor Run.

Henry Forbes, the organiser, would love some help with the catering on the day (this happens in the Parish Hall after the hungry farmers return from the run!).  If you could make a plate of sandwiches, or bake a cake, that would be great. These can be dropped into the Parish Hall on the Sunday morning (1st) .  If you could help with the teas/coffees on the day please contact Henry at 087-2035000.   Thank you.

Mothers’ Union Meeting on Wednesday 20th November

Being a keen gardener can lead to embarrassment, as one Scottish family discovered.

When they began digging up their garden, they found large stone slabs hidden in the ground. Believing they had found an old Viking settlement, with great excitement, they called the Council who sent their archaeologists in to investigate. But after six months of painstaking excavations, when tiny amounts of soil were lifted and dusted away, the team discovered that they had been unearthing a garden patio dating from the 1940s. Admitting they had mistakenly ignored evidence, such as a child’s gas mask, the red-faced archaeologists promised they would be more careful in future.

In 2002 another mistake was made, this time in Wales, when staff at the Conservative Party’s headquarters in Cardiff found what they thought were tomato plants in the back garden. Expecting a good crop, they let them grow until the gardener pointed out that they were actually cannabis plants.

After enquiries , police decided a cheeky local had planted his own supply there, probably expecting it to go unnoticed among the overgrown weeds.
