Random Notes DXXXV
The wonderful character actress Penelope Keith passed away last week, As a child growing up in Monkstown during the 1970’s and 80’s, the worlds of Margo Leadbetter and Daphne fforbes-Hamilton made a big impression on me. The Good Life and To the Manor Born were a part of my up-bringing.
When someone dies who has made an influence on us, it is sad, but it is important to remember how they remain as part of our character. We wouldn’t be ourselves if we hadn’t experienced them. The likes of Joan Gollock, Jill Hingston, Muriel Garde, Charlie Hennessy, Esther Seymour and John Mattson, Sean and Joan Doyle, Betty O’Connor and Peg Exham.
Every time I pass these people’s houses their memory comes flooding back to me. They all made a massive impression on me, and I am so thankful for that. The same follows for plants that people gave me – a scented Geranium from Conor Gahan…an Aonium from Vonla Good in my kitchen window, They combine to make us who we are in 2026. On the face of a clock that Jill Hingston gave me are the words “Tempus Fugit”…. How true!!
